Messy Church is coming to Brightlingsea!

Messy Church is an informal event for families, held on a Sunday once a month at teatime, (4 -6pm) startting March 21st 2010.

Come and enjoy Bible stories, crafts, games and a meal together.

Women's World Day of Prayer

The Brightlingsea service will be held in the Salvation Army Citadel at 2pm on Friday 5th March. The service this year has been arranged by the women of Cameroon.

"Caring For All" - Study Course

There will be a study course at the Lion Walk Church, Colchester, on four consecutive Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 9.00, starting on 4th March, for anyone involved in pastoral care or interested in learning more. The subjects will be: "Why and how do we care?" , "Listening Well", Pastoral Care and Discipleship" and "The Use of prayer in pastoral care". Further information from the United Church.

Clacton District Hospital

Clacton District Hospital is looking for volunteers to work with nursing staff to enhance the stay of the patients. So, if you have a few hours to spare each week and are interested in supporting your local Community Hospital as a volunteer, then Clacton District Hospital is having an Open Day for prospective volunteers on Thursday 18th February, in the Committee Room at Clacton Hospital from 10am to 3pm. All will be welcome. Meet some of our volunteers and nursing staff and see how you could make a difference and find out how rewarding this could be for you.

Lent Courses

There will be two Lent Courses in the town.

On Sunday evenings, starting on 21st February in St James' Church, there will be an evening service and study course, from 6.30 to 8pm; based on "The Things He Said", by the Bishop of Reading, on the words of Jesus on the first Easter Day.

On Thursday evenings, the 7.30pm weekly Bible study group led by the Salvation Army, will follow the York course, centred on the Cross. This will start on Thursday 25th February at 7.30pm, at No 1 Florence Cottages, Brightlingsea. The course book will cost £3.00.

There will also be meditations on the Stations of the Cross on Wednesday evenings in Lent at 7.30pm in St James' Church.

Grand Coffee Morning for Haiti

Saturday 13th February, 10 - 12am in the YMCA Hall. This is an opportunity for the town to support the victims of this terrible disaster, with stalls for books, cakes, a raffle and some games (but no jumble or bric-a-brac). Entrance will be £1.00.
